Whole Garden Luffa · Small
Growing

A whole dried luffa sponge. Plant fiber, not plastic.

A ripening luffa hanging on the vine in the sun

Neighborhood grown. Shower ready.

Most "loofahs" in stores are plastic mesh. Ours is an actual plant, grown in a San Diego garden.

Soil first

We build our soil with bone meal and fish emulsion, so the vines have something to climb on from the roots up.

On the vine

Luffa climbs the fence all summer in City Heights sun. Each gourd ripens when it's ready, not when we are.

Harvest & dry

We pick, dry, peel and clean every luffa by hand. When it ripens, we sell it. The luffa sets the schedule.

WTF is a luffa, actually?

Mother Nature’s exfoliator. Grown on a vine. Really.

Boo Farms luffa
Plastic pouf
What it is
A plant. A gourd that grew on a vine.
Plastic mesh shaped to look like a loofah.
Where it's from
Our garden in City Heights.
A factory, usually overseas.
In the shower
Firm when dry, soft when wet.
Sheds bits of plastic down the drain.
When it's done
Compost it.
Landfill.

A different kind of dirtbag, these days.
